Here's a preview of the piece I've done. Miku's Tagalog has been greatly improved (as well as her voice bending quality, goodbye Voyakiloid!), although still not perfect.

This is another classic OPM song as requested by jollysword in YouTube.

Upon jollysword's feedback on the singing quality, it is confirmed that the source MIDI file has some inconsitencies with the original.

I've corrected vast part of the VSQ sequence to match the original, but now I figured out how to make her pronounce slowly.

This will take time, and another thing I ran into, is that the trailing S pronounciation does not happen if there's a letter n between s and another letter, perhaps a vowel. S stresses from consonants are important in Tagalog as well as in English. This inconsitency that causes lack of stress pronunciation of this makes Miku, Rin, Len, (Possibly Gackpoid too) sound really odd.

In a sudden urge, I decided to translate Lost My Music into Tagalog.

The word nakakaiyak (Tagalog word for a cause for someone to cry) feels too shallow, in comparison to nakakapagtangis (Root word "tangis", which is more of a formal way to say "cry"; it's like the word "weep" in english.)

With how I translated this into Tagalog, using even deeper words, suddenly, what was intended as a rock music turned into a Kundiman-like music.

FYI, Kundiman is the subset of sentimental/quiet songs that have traces of Spanish influences, and is extremely poetic. It also is played using guitars or pianos, often with slow and mellow tempos. Usually, lyrics of such music has a theme revolving love.

Problem is, today's youth feels ergh when hearing Kundimans, feeling they belong to the old generation, branding it as baduy (passe).

Like Haku and Neru, Teto is a fan-made vocaloid. Created by a group called crvpton, and somewhat inspired by 2ch. (Obviously crvpton is a spoof of Crypton, the company that brought you the Japanese Vocaloids that we know).

Needless to say, some have tried to come up with Teto's voice pattern.

Judging Teto's design, she's a default high-pitch singer, and many attempts from niconico douga and youtube do confirm this.

Unlike Haku and Neru, whose voices don't need bending to be recognizable, Teto's do need portamento EVERYWHERE, and that the bending should be audibly obvious, to the point that she has a little girl's voice.

But the bending should work in such a way that the letter transition would be smooth.

This is the hypothetical pattern for Teto. This would mean score-dependent pitch settings.

Teto's voice without the bending would sound a little like Miku or Neru.

Another discovery:

Teto is most likely associated with a 3rd-party voice sequencing software called UTAU. All VSQ files mastered in UTAU using Teto's voicebank data is automatically considered hers.

Unfortunately, unlike Yamaha's issued software, UTAU is in 100% Japanese, and has no way for English users to work around it, though some elements are obvious enough for basic operation.

  1. UTAU uses a custom file format. (There's a converter for VSQ though)
  2. To get Teto, you need to download her voice pack.
  3. Reading UTAU voice structure, it strictly adheres to Japanese sound phonetics. There will definitely be difficulty trying to get her to pronunce double consonants. But I haven't tried this yet because I'm still busy with Harana.
  4. I got Miku to speak semi-perfect Tagalog, but could the same be done for Teto?
  5. Applocale can set the program right for UTAU.

Attached is a working WIP of Rin and Len singing the first part of the song. Note that it is very rough, as I'm also sequencing the tunes at the same time. I'm not relying on pre-made MIDIs this time because NONE exists for this song.

When this is done, I will make the MIDI file available too.

You'll note that Rin and Len sings the chorus clearer than the 1st stanza. I used some tricks in there early on, though I will forsee that I'll need to redo the bars. (It was through importing the MIDI to Vocaloid that I found inconsistencies in the MIDI, which I fixed.)
